Warmly Welcoming Ceremony: Chinese President welcomed his Myanmar Counterpart

At the invitation of President Mr. Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China, President U Min Aung Hlaing of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, who is currently on a State Visit to the People’s Republic of China, was welcomed with a ceremonial guard of honor by the Chinese President at the Great Hall of the People in the morning on June 16th, followed by the bilateral talks.

First, after the special motorcade carrying President U Min Aung Hlaing arrived at the Great Hall of the People, a guard of honor from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) (Army, Navy, and Air Force) formally welcomed him. A 21-gun salute was also fired by the ceremonial artillery unit during the military honors ceremony.

Afterwards, President Xi Jinping who had been awaiting his arrival, warmly welcomed President U Min Aung Hlaing. The two presidents then took their places on the reviewing stand, where they received the salute as the national anthems of both countries were performed by the guard of honor.

Following the inspection of the guard of honor, the two presidents waved and greeted children who were welcoming them while waving flags, before returning to the reviewing stand.

The two presidents then received the ceremonial departure salute from the guard of honor. Afterwards, they proceeded together to the Fujian Hall, where bilateral discussions continued.

Subsequently, officials from the relevant sectors of both countries signed and exchanged 18 agreements and memoranda of understandings included a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for jointly advancing the Global Security Initiative (GSI) between the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the People’s Republic of China, in the presence of President U Min Aung Hlaing and President Xi Jinping.

Later, President Xi Jinping hosted a special luncheon in honor of President U Min Aung Hlaing and the Myanmar delegation. President Xi Jinping personally greeted and welcomed President U Min Aung Hlaing with a handshake before accompanying him into the banquet hall, where they dined together at the special luncheon.

During the luncheon, the ceremonial military band of the People’s Republic of China performed songs from both countries in honor of the occasion, it’s reported.
