Amyotha Hluttaw Session: 6th day of 2nd regular session of 3rd Amyotha Hluttaw held

The sixth day of the Second Regular Session of the Third Amyotha Hluttaw was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Amyotha Hluttaw meeting hall at the Hluttaw Building in Nay Pyi Taw.

Of a total of 209 Amyotha Hluttaw representatives, 206 attended the session. During the meeting, Amyotha Hluttaw Representative U Tin Myo Zaw (Magway Region Constituency No. 2) asked whether it is possible to extend an 11 KVA power line and install a transformer for electrification of Myinsai Village, Magway Township, Amyotha Hluttaw Representative Nan Wo Sein (Shan State Constituency No. 12) asked whether there are plans in the coming fiscal year to construct a sub-power station linked to the national grid to supply electricity to Tonta Town and surrounding village tracts in Mong Pyin Township, Shan State (East), Amyotha Hluttaw Representative Daw Mi Mi Kyaw Tun (Kachin State Constituency No. 4) raised a question regarding the significant decline in the number of students attending Basic Education High School level between the 2018–2019 and 2023–2024 academic years, according to ministry records, and asked whether the Ministry of Education has plans to address this issue.

These questions were answered by Deputy Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aye Kyaw and Deputy Minister for Education U Nay Myo Hlaing. Subsequently, Amyotha Hluttaw Representativea discussed a motion submitted by Amyotha Hluttaw Representative U Aung Chit Lwin (Sagaing Region Constituency No. 2) urging the Union Government to promptly address the shortage of teachers in basic education schools.

The Speaker of the Amyotha Hluttaw then asked for the proposer’s position on the motion. The proposer requested that the motion be recorded for reference. Accordingly, the Speaker announced that the motion would be recorded in accordance with the wishes of the proposer. Finally, the sixth day session of the Second Regular Session of the Third Amyotha Hluttaw session was adjourned. The seventh day session is scheduled to continue on June 18.
