State-level Goodwill Visit: President departed for People’s Republic of China

The President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, departed for the People’s Republic of China on a state-level goodwill visit today, June 15, at 8:00 a.m., following an invitation from Chinese President Mr. Xi Jinping. He left from the Tatmadaw airport in Nay Pyi Taw aboard a special flight.

He was seen off at the airport by Vice President U Nyo Saw, Vice President Daw Nann Ni Ni Aye, Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker U Aung Lin Dwe, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo, Union ministers, the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, as well as officials from the Chinese Embassy and Military Attaché Office in Myanmar.

Accompanying the President are Union ministers including U Khin Maung Yi, U Tin Maung Swe, Dr. Kan Zaw, U Ko Ko Lwin, Dr. Charlie Than, U Tun Ohn, as well as Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan, Shan State Chief Minister U Sai Htein Soe, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, deputy ministers, and other officials.

During the visit, the President is expected to meet and hold bilateral talks with the President of China. In addition, he will also meet with the Chinese Premier and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. He will also receive and meet with provincial leaders and representatives from business organizations, attend an economic conference, and visit high-technology industries.

The visit aims to further strengthen the long-standing “Pauk-Phaw” relations between Myanmar and China, and to discuss cooperation between the two governments and peoples in areas including the economy, security, and other sectors, it’s learnt.
