Tree Planting: Monsoon tree planting activity in Sittwe

Rakhine State Chief Minister U Naing Oo and his wife attended the Monsoon Tree Planting Festival 2026 at Sittwe Airport on Saturday morning, together with the Chief Justice of the State High Court, state government officials, departmental personnel, teachers and representatives of social organizations.

In his speech, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of tree planting in conserving forest resources, combating climate change, protecting biodiversity, and promoting a green and clean environment. He called for cooperation among government departments, social organizations and local communities to prevent deforestation and ensure sustainable forest management.

During the event, the Chief Minister and party distributed saplings and planted various species. A total of 2,000 trees were planted in Sittwe as part of the festival. The Chief Minister and party then inspected tree-planting activities.

The Chief Minister later visited Sittwe Airport’s arrival and departure terminals to review cleanliness, beautification and passengers’ security measures, while instructing the needs.
