Cuba on Thursday condemned fresh United States sanctions on its state-owned oil and gas company CUPET, denouncing the move as "vengeful" and part of a broader, decades-old policy designed to strangle the Cuban economy and destabilize the nation.

Cuban officials, including Foreign Affairs Minister Bruno Rodríguez, pushed back on the social platform X. Cuba argued that the US blockades and sanctions punish the general Cuban populace and deliberately worsen the island’s ongoing multidimensional energy crisis.
