Pope Leo XIV on Thursday condemned the "coldness of indifference" toward migrants during his visit to Spain's Canary Islands.

Speaking from Port of Arguineguin, he called for safe, legal pathways for immigration, urging European and international leaders to protect human dignity across borders rather than growing accustomed to migrant deaths at sea. He then offered a prayer and cast a floral wreath into the water in memory of the thousands of migrants who have lost their lives attempting the perilous Atlantic route.
