The Ministry of Electricity and Energy announced that work process is underway to upgrade the 132kV transmission line between Magwe and Taungdwingyi.
The existing ACSR transmission wires are being replaced with advanced fiber-core aluminum conductors that can carry more than twice the current load. The project aims to improve power transmission, strengthen grid stability, and enhance voltage quality.
The process began on May 22, and about 19.6% of the project has been completed. The next phase will take place from June 12 to 15, during which temporary power shutdowns will be required. Once completed, the upgraded line will allow more electricity generated in Magwe Region to be transmitted to the national power grid.
