Amyotha Hluttaw Session: Fourth day of the Second Regular Session held

The fourth day of the Second Regular Session of the Third Amyotha Hluttaw was held Thursday morning, June 11, at 10:00 a.m. in the Amyotha Hluttaw Meeting Hall in Nay Pyi Taw. Of the 209 representatives eligible to attend, 208 were present.

According to the agenda, the session began with a question-and-answer program. Among the questions raised were; Sai Win Khaing, Amyotha Hluttaw representative No. (10) from Shan State, asked whether there were plans to repair the strategic “Naung Phar နောင်ဖာ” main road in Tangyan တန့်ယန်း Township, Shan State, measuring 5,000 feet in length, 20 feet in width, and 8 inches in height, in order to improve transportation within the Township, U Aung Kyaw Min, Amyotha Hluttaw representative No. (4) from Ayeyawady Region, asked whether there were plans to ensure that tender rules and regulations are complete, accurate, and standardized when selecting contractors for state-funded construction projects, along with these, a total of four questions were raised, and Deputy Minister for Construction U Myo Myint responded to them.

Afterward, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker submitted to the Hluttaw proposals for replacing and reorganizing member positions in Amyotha Hluttaw committees and sought Hluttaw’s approval.

The Speaker then proposed the formation of the Committee on Domestic and International Non-Governmental Organizations with 15 members, including Daw Mi Mi Kyaw Tun, Amyotha Hluttaw representative No. (4) from Kachin State, as Chairperson, and U Aung Chit Lwin, Amyotha Hluttaw representative No. (2) from Sagaing Region, as Secretary. The duties, powers, rights, term, and meeting procedures of the committee were also presented to the Hluttaw for approval, and the committee’s formation was officially announced.

Next, the Speaker explained matters relating to the formation of the Health and Sports Committee. Following this, U Win Hlaing, Amyotha Hluttaw representative No. (1) from Yangon Region, explained the duties, powers, rights, and term of the Committee.

The Speaker then submitted to the Hluttaw the list of 15 members of the Health and Sports Committee, including Dr. Naing Lin, Amyotha Hluttaw representative No. (9) from Kayah State, as Chairperson, and Dr. Aung Zaw Latt, Amyotha representative No. (1) from Shan State, as Secretary.

Today’s meeting adjourned at 11:05 a.m., and the fifth day of the session will continue on June 12 at 10:00 a.m., it’s learnt.
