






Union Minister for Industry and MSMEs Development Dr. Charlie Than met with Indian experts participating in the No. 1 Steel Mill (Myingyan) Project at the office of the Industrial Supervision and Inspection Department in Nyaung Oo District, Mandalay Region, on 6 June.
During the meeting, the Union Minister expressed his appreciation for the participation of experts in steel production, stating that the No. 1 Foundry was able to begin operations for iron smelting in 2023 and produced 28,000 tons of billets. He added that the No. 2 Foundry is now in operation with the assistance of Indian and Myanmar experts, producing slabs and marking a milestone in the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
He urged them to train staff for technology transfer in steel production and to provide continued assistance for the successful completion of the project, and initiation of the manufacturing process. After hearing reports from the Indian experts and officials regarding the status of repair works, ongoing measures, and project progress, the Union Minister delivered the closing remarks.
