US President Donald Trump said Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to stop hostilities following diplomatic contacts aimed at preventing further escalation in Lebanon.

In his Truth Social, Trump said he held a productive call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and claimed Israeli troops heading toward Beirut had been turned back. Trump also said discussions conducted through representatives of Hezbollah resulted in an agreement by both sides to stop all shooting. Hours later, Netanyahu confirmed speaking with Trump but stressed that Israel’s position remains unchanged.
