Ukraine to buy up to 20 Gripen jet fighters from Sweden

During his visit in Sweden, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Thursday a plan to buy up to 20 Gripen E/F fighter jets from Sweden, while also securing an additional 16 older Gripen C/D models as a donation.

The landmark agreement is also part of a broader, long-term multinational effort to strengthen and modernize the Ukrainian Air Force. This transaction serves as the initial phase of a broader strategic intent, with Ukraine and Sweden previously signing a letter of intent that outlines an eventual acquisition of 100 to 150 aircraft.
