To protect the country’s shrimp exports, Viet Nam’s authorities are urging exporters to continue coordinating and submitting feedback. Shrimp remained a key source of export revenue in the first four months of the year, generating around 1.5 billion US dollars.

However, businesses said challenges remain ahead — including climate change, technical barriers, logistics costs, and rising global competition. Unstable selling prices, combined with rising input costs such as feed and veterinary products, are reducing farm profitability and affecting farmers’ confidence.

Experts warn this could also lead to raw material shortages later in the year as demand recovers. Meanwhile, Viet Nam’s shrimp production costs remain higher than those of competitors such as India and Ecuador, reducing its competitiveness.
