Cultural Tourism: Meeting with hoteliers to promote cultural tourism

Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint met with hotel owners, managers, and tourism representatives from Mandalay, Pyin Oo Lwin, and Sagaing on Friday. The meeting focused on integrating cultural heritage with tourism development to enhance economic, social, and cultural benefits.

The Union Minister stressed that Mandalay’s rich historical and cultural assets make it an ideal destination for cultural tourism. He encouraged private sector partners to promote the city as a global tourist destination while preserving local traditions and heritage.

During the meeting, local authorities also discussed challenges in post-earthquake recovery, hotel infrastructure, electricity, and fuel supply. The Union Minister coordinated the needs. He then visited Mandalay Swan Hotel and Tun Hla Hotel, and instructed officials to raise service standards, enhance visitor safety, and reopen quickly to support tourism growth.
