On April 15th, marking the Akyat Day or the middle day of Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Festival, celebrations continued grandly and vibrantly at the water-playing pavilions of various Regional Military Commands.

The festival is being held in accordance with Myanmar customs, style, and traditional cultural heritage, with the enthusiastic participation of military officers, ranks, family members, Yein (traditional dance) troupes, modern music bands, and Thingyan-loving members of the public.

On this New Year occasion of Maha Thingyan Akyat Day, the Atar Thingyan water festival festivities carried on at the water-playing pavilions and Walking Thingyan pavilions across various Regional Military Commands and military stations.

Chief Ministers of respective Regions and States, Commanders of the Regional Military Commands, and other officials visited these venues to watch and offer encouragement to the competitive performances of the Atar Thingyan Yein dance troupes and the musical performances by vocalists, presenting them with honorable cash awards.

Furthermore, the officials observed and encouraged the serving of Satuditha (free charity food) provided by the officers, ranks, and their families at the various Atar Thingyan water festival pavilions. They then joyfully joined the Thingyan lovers in celebrating the water festival.

Similarly, within the compound of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, along with officers, ranks, and their families, happily participated in the Myanmar Traditional Atar Thingyan Akyat Day at the traditional Maha Thingyan pavilions, which were organized in adherence to Myanmar traditional customs.

The Atar Thingyan water festival was celebrated with much joy, featuring the serving of Satuditha charity feasts to the revelers and the happy splashing of water among all participants, it’s reported.
