Work Undertakings: Recognize achievements and promote sports

Chief Minister of Ayeyawady Region U Tin Maung Win attended the Award Ceremony for Outstanding Achievements, held at Pathein City Hall on March 2.

The award ceremony recognized individuals for their exceptional contributions in various sectors. During his speech, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration across multiple sectors in driving national and regional development, particularly in agriculture and agro-based industries.

Following this, the Chief Minister participated in the launch of the Summer Sports Training Program, which is organized by the Ayeyawady Youth Affairs Committee and the Department of Sports and Physical Education. The program, running from March to April 2026, offers training in 20 different sports, aimed at empowering young people to make the most of their free time during the school break.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the new Futsal Hall in honor of the 81st anniversary Armed Forces Day. The facility, measuring 150ft by 122ft, was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. In addition, the Chief Minister launched the 2026 Ayeyawady Chief Minister’s Cup Football Tournament, which aims to promote sportsmanship and unity within the region.

The tournament, which will run until March 11, features 16 teams from across the region competing for the championship. The Chief Minister encouraged all participants to play with respect, follow the rules, and uphold fairness in the competition. He stressed that such events are not just about winning but about fostering teamwork and creating future sports stars who will represent Ayeyawady Region at the national level.
