Peasants’ Day: Acting President sends message on Peasants’Day

Acting President, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing sent a message on the occasion of 64th anniversary Peasants’ Day, which falls on 2 March.

The Acting President wished for farmers to be health, prosperity, and success in their work. The message emphasized boosting agricultural production under the slogan “Let us encourage production for prosperity of the Nation” to strengthen the economy and ensure food security.

It highlighted the government’s support for modern farming techniques, quality seeds, irrigation systems, fertilizers, and agro-based industries, as well as training and guidance on crop, livestock, and fisheries management. Farmers were encouraged to adopt smart farming using AI and digital technology to improve yields, control pests, and manage water efficiently.

The government also promotes domestic production of high-quality crops, oils, and cotton to reduce imports and increase exports, while supporting rice export zones and fair market access for farmers.

The Acting President reaffirmed the state’s commitment to improving farmers’ income, expanding irrigated land, ensuring high-quality production, and providing technical, financial, and infrastructure support for sustainable agricultural and livestock development.
