Agricultural Development: Rice Mill opening and farmers’ meeting

To mark the 64th anniversary Peasants’ Day, a new rice milling and polishing machine was opened on February 28.

Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended the opening of the new mill, operated by the Shwe Phyo Thar Agricultural and General Business Cooperative Society in Myothit Township.

In his speech, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of agriculture in regional development. He said the new mill will help farmers dry, store, and mill their paddy locally, allowing them to sell high-quality rice at better prices and increase their income.

He urged cooperative members to ensure proper management, repay the loan on time, and work together for long-term success. Officials later discussed regional development needs with farmers and inspected the new rice mill. The rice mill was built with a loan of 200 million kyats from the State Economic Promotion Fund. It can process over 1,000 baskets of paddy per day.
