22nd Annual Meeting of MWAF: MOSWRR UM delivered the congratulatory address

The 22nd Annual Meeting of the Myanmar Women's Affairs Federation was held at the Thiri Yadana Hall of the Myanmar Women's Affairs Federation Office in Nay Pyi Taw on February 26.

Chairman of Myanmar National Committee for Women's Affairs, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win attended the meeting and delivered a congratulatory address. He stated that the Myanmar National Committee for Women's Affairs was established on July 3, 1996, and has served as the national-level mechanism.

The Committee has been accelerating activities to enhance women's capabilities and protect women from violence, in collaboration with women's organizations. He commended and acknowledged all those involved and responsible for the annual publication of the federation's magazine, as it serves to share good practices, experiences, and achievements related to the development and capacity building of Myanmar women.

Subsequently, the Committee Chairman Union Minister, along with the Patron, Chairperson, and Vice-Chairpersons of the Myanmar Women's Affairs Federation, presented awards to 14 individuals who received excellence awards for their contributions to women's development activities. A documentary video of the Myanmar Women's Affairs Federation was screened, and attendees toured the photo exhibition galleries before the opening ceremony concluded.

On the same day, the Union Minister met with vendors and their family members from the shop stalls destroyed by the fire at Ahara Thukha Market in in Kinmontan Village, Pyinmana Township, which broke out at 8:40 PM on February 25, 2026.

The Union Minister delivered words of encouragement, and provided a cash donation of 7.7 million kyats equivalent to one month's rice ration, along with personal hygiene items valued at over 9 million kyats, to the 82 affected households.

Following the meeting, the Union Minister and officials toured the fire-damaged market stall areas and inspected preparations for the swift opening of a temporary market, coordinating and addressing necessary requirements.
