







Union Minister for Education Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein visited Pathein No.1 Basic Education High School in Pathein on Saturday.
The Union Minister met with township education officers and school principals, emphasizing the importance of high Grade-12 pass rates and secure administration of upcoming exams, including Grade-5, Grade-9, and Grade-12 assessments. She also highlighted the timely distribution of textbooks to students for the next school year.
She also outlined the update plans to the curriculum for Grades 6 to 9, which will include subjects on industry, agriculture, and animal husbandry, and stressed that trained teachers will provide practical guidance to students. She urged teachers to maintain professionalism and set a good example for students.
At the Pathein Education Degree College, officials reported on the plans to upgrade the college to a university, including new dormitories, facilities, and campus master plans.
In meeting with the teachers and trainees, the Union Minister emphasized the importance of research-linked teaching, quality assurance for each subject, and improving distance education standards to ensure remote students receive the same quality of instruction as on-campus students.
She urged teachers to participate in professional training to enhance their expertise. They then visited the Pathein University, and met with the Rector, Pro-Rector, Professors, faculties and staff. She emphasized the importance of linking teaching with research, improving quality assurance for each subject, and enhancing distance learning for remote students. She encouraged faculty to focus on their expertise, organize research discussions, publish work nationally and internationally, and guide students’ final-year projects effectively.
The Union Minister later inspected ongoing dormitory construction and campus facilities.
