Aung San Stadium, originally built in 1906 and formerly known as BAA (Burma Athletic Association Ground), is a historic sports venue in Yangon.
It has hosted many local and international events, including the Southeast Asian Peninsular Games in 1961 and 1969. Due to its age and about 70 percent structural damage, experts recommended building a new modern stadium with a running track. The project will be implemented with assistance from the People’s Republic of China, following a bilateral agreement and guidance from the State leadership.
