










Due to the regional security situation, the Kachin State Government has been making arrangements to facilitate the accommodation and daily needs of families who have been displaced from their towns and villages.
On the morning of February 16, the State Chief Minister, U Khat Hein Nam, along with State Ministers and relevant departmental officials, visited three temporary shelters in the wards of Myitkyina Township to conduct on-site coordination and ensure preparations are made before the rainy season.
During the field visit, the Chief Minister and officials first went to Camp (1), located within the Lajiid Baptist Church compound in Tatkon Ward. They met with 270 households residing in the camp. To construct additional temporary shelters for new households in the camp, the Chief Minister provided a donation of 10 million kyats for the cost of bamboo materials.
They also coordinated with relevant state-level departmental officials to address the needs of the households and delivered words of encouragement.
Subsequently, the State Chief Minister and officials met at the temporary displacement camp within the COC Church compound in Radakaung (B) of Tatkon Ward.
Following presentations by camp officials regarding their needs, the Chief Minister coordinated with relevant state-level departmental officials for the swift fulfillment of requirements. The Chief Minister provided a donation of 1 million kyats to the COC Church, encouraging the households to cooperate with their government for the possibility of returning to their homes and for stability and peace.
After that, at the Rawang Baptist Church camp, they met with 69 households from the Rawang Baptist Church camp and the Kyara Patee (A) RC Church camp. Following presentations by camp officials regarding the needs within the camps, the chief Minister coordinated with relevant state-level departmental officials to address them.
A donation of 4.4 million kyats was provided for the construction of additional new shelters, along with words of encouragement, it’s reported.
