










A ceremony to present commendation awards to the military service athletes and coaches who had secured medals in the 19th Asian Games, the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, and the 13th ASEAN Para Games was held on February 11 at the Bayinnaung Yeiktha Reception Hall in Nay Pyi Taw.
Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony and delivered an opening address.
The Senior General expressed his pleasure and pride, stating that he wished to acknowledge all the award-winning athletes who had enhanced the prestige of the Nation and the Tatmadaw by applying their respective strengths with unwavering perseverance and effort, in accordance with the sports motto "Promoting Sports is Serving and Safeguarding the Nation."
He also commended the coaches who provided optimal guidance and the team management members.
He noted that those who competed in the 19th Asian Games, the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, and the 13th ASEAN Para Games had exerted their best efforts by utilizing their physical and intellectual strengths. He emphasized that the Tatmadaw service athletes who participated in the Para Games had proven themselves to be capable individuals despite their disabilities, demonstrating this most convincingly.
He remarked that the history of sports in Myanmar reveals a tradition of having penetrated not only the Asian level but also the world stage at one time. Upon studying the annals of Myanmar's sporting achievements, the prominent historical image of the Tatmadaw members' excellent and illustrious accomplishments remains clearly visible.
He announced that at this ceremony, the Tatmadaw service athletes and coaches who have elevated the prestige of the Nation and the Tatmadaw would be honored with the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services' Certificates of Honour, Commendation Certificates, cash awards, and also promotions in rank.
He stated that the State and the Tatmadaw recognize and take pride in the Tatmadaw service athletes who have won medals and brought honour to the nation in international sports competitions.
Following this, the Senior General presented the Certificates of Honour, Commendation Certificates, and cash awards individually to the Tatmadaw service athletes who had won individual and team Gold and Silver medals in the 19th Asian Games, the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, and the 13th ASEAN Para Games, as well as to Second Warrant Officer Thet Win, who had coached athletes to secure Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in athletics at the 13th ASEAN Para Games.
Subsequently, the SSPC Vice-Chairman, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, presented the Certificates of Honour, Commendation Certificates, and cash awards individually to the Tatmadaw service athletes who had won individual and team Gold and Silver medals in the 13th ASEAN Para Games and the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, as well as to Flight Sergeant/52 Aung Thu Tun, who had coached athletes to secure Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in athletics at the 13th ASEAN Para Games.
Continuing, the SSPC members and senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services respectively presented the Certificates of Honour, Commendation Certificates, and cash awards to the Tatmadaw service athletes and coaches who had brought honour to the State.
Following this, Second Warrant Officer Soe Pay expressed words of thanks on behalf of the national glory-winning Tatmadaw service athletes and coaches. Afterwards, the Senior General, and council members hosted a tea reception in honour of the athletes and coaches.
Following the honorary reception and entertainment performance, the Senior General and his wife, along with council members, cordially greeted the Tatmadaw service athletes and coaches.
