







Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan, currently in Putao to oversee regional development, food security, and the expansion of oilseed crops, conducted a field inspection in Machanbaw Township on February 1.
First, the Chief Minister attended the conclusion of the annual Buddha Pujaniya Festival and the Pathana Recitation at the historic Kaunghmulon Pagoda on the banks of the Malikha River.
The Chief Minister, along with departmental officials and local residents, offered rice, cash, and various provisions to 80 members of the Sangha and nuns.
The donated 5 million Kyats and 15 bags of rice for the festival, while another donor, U Ye Yint Swe, contributed 3 million Kyats.
Then, the Chief Minister and officials watched the finals of the Traditional Boat Racing on the Malikha River, inspected the site for a new pagoda museum, and cheered on participants in a women’s tug-of-war competition.
Later, the Chief Minister inspected a vegetable and oilseed mustard plantation managed by a collective of 30 farmers supported by a 30 million Kyat fund from the Country’s Economic Promotion Fund. The Chief Minister distributed foliar fertilizers and coordinated with officials to drill a well to ensure a steady water supply for the crops.
The Chief Minister and officials also inspected a road improvement project near Inbubawt Village on the Putao–Machanbaw–Nam Kham–Naung Mon route. The project aims to eliminate a dangerous blind curve by widening the road, adjusting the gradient, and laying a reinforced concrete surface (3.66 cm thick). After a briefing by the Director of the State Road Management Department, the Chief Minister inspected the heavy machinery operations on-site to ensure safety and quality standards.
Then, the Chief Minister visited the farm of U La Nu , who is successfully growing two acres of oilseed mustard. To ensure sufficient irrigation, the Chief Minister instructed officials to install water pipes to draw water from a nearby creek and provided fertilizer bags.
