Passing Out Parade of the 67th Intake of Defence Services Academy took place at the venue in Pyin Oo Lwin on Wednesday.

Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the event, and took a salute of the cadet columns, followed by inspecting the graduation column. Then the cadet columns marched pass the Senior General, who later presented awards to the winner of excellent performance, and outstanding cadets in training, art, science, and computer subjects.

In his speech, the Senior General outlined the duties and expectations of newly commissioned officers. He urged graduates to uphold discipline, integrity and professionalism, stressing the need to embody the values of loyalty, bravery and wisdom as they assume leadership roles within the army, navy and air force.

The Senior General emphasized the importance of strong leadership qualities, adherence to military and legal codes of conduct, and continuous training to improve both individual capability and the effectiveness of the units they command. He called on officers to maintain physical fitness and avoid habits such as alcohol, cigarettes and betel quid, which could harm health and performance. Highlighting changes in modern warfare, he pointed to rapid advances in technology, including drones, cyber capabilities and AI, and stressed the need for higher professional knowledge to operate modern defence systems.

He also addressed Myanmar’s political situation, referring to the role of Tatmadaw since the 2020. He reiterated the commitment to a democratic multi-party system and noted the government’s preparations for the upcoming 2025 general election. The Senior General said the military would cooperate to ensure security during the polls and stressed that attempts to disrupt the election must be countered.

He urged the new officers to perform their duties with responsibility, discipline and loyalty, and to help ensure peace, stability and rule of law across the country. Then, the Senior General received the salute of the cadet columns and left the parade ground. Afterwards, the Senior General met with the outstanding cadets and thier parents and spoke words of honour.
