The fourth day of the Science Festival 2025, jointly organized by Russia’s state nuclear corporation ROSATOM and Myanmar’s Ministry of Science and Technology, continued in Yangon at the Nuclear Technology Information Center and Yangon Technological University (YTU) on November 29.

In the morning, 350 basic education students joined the Nuclear Quest competition at the information center. This was followed by a talk titled “Sustainable Development and Environmental Benefits of SMRs” delivered by Dr. Alexander Nakhebov from Russia’s MEPhI University.

Participants discussed the topic, with Deputy Minister Dr Aung Zeya adding comments and clarifications. At the same time, YTU hosted a panel discussion on Future Technology and Innovation, with speeches by experts from Myanmar and Russia.

In the afternoon, the second day of the HackAtom Competition continued at YTU. Ten teams each with 11 university students, presented software applications and websites proposing 4D concepts for building small nuclear power plants to support local development.

A joint Myanmar–Russia panel evaluated the presentations and asked questions, followed by a prize-giving ceremony. Later in the day, the Nuclear Quest session for university students was held with 50 participants. The program concluded with “The Energy of the Future – Time Capsule” event with officials from both Myanmar and ROSATOM. The Russia–Myanmar Science Festival, first held in 2023, is now in its third year.

This year also marks the 25th anniversary of the Russia–Myanmar Friendship Declaration and the 80th anniversary of Russia’s nuclear industry. The festival ran for two days in Nay Pyi Taw and two days in Yangon, helping broaden public knowledge and awareness of nuclear technology.
