The International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem commemorative ceremony was held at the Khaing Thazin Hall in Sittwe, Rakhine State on July 25. The event was attended by Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, the Chief Justice of the State High Court, members of the state government, departmental officials, teachers, students, and invited guests.

At the ceremony, Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin stated that in 2015, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated July 25 as the annual International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem to raise global awareness of the vital role mangroves play especially in coastal areas in promoting long-term sustainable development, providing resources for living beings, and mitigating the impacts of climate change. He emphasized that Myanmar's long coastline, rich in natural resources such as mangrove forests, sand dune forests, seagrass beds, and coral reefs, plays a crucial role in national food security and sustainable development. He urged relevant departments, associated organizations, and the general public to continue collaborating in conserving and restoring mangrove ecosystems. He also called for greater participation by local communities who increasingly understand the importance of mangroves and are working to ensure their sustainable use across generations.

Following that, the Director of the State Forest Department gave a presentation on mangrove conservation, and a video commemorating the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem was shown.

The event concluded with the Chief Minister and departmental officials taking a commemorative group photo and engaging warmly with attending teachers and students.
