Non-Formal Education Programs: YGN CM attended and delivered the opening speech

The opening ceremony for the 2025-2026 Academic Year Non-Formal Primary and Middle School Education Programs, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and the Yangon Region Government, was held at the Thiri Yadana Hall, No. (4) Basic Education High School, Ahlone Township, Yangon Region in the morning on July 22nd.

Attendees included Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Deputy Minister for Education U Nay Myo Hlaing, departmental officials, and officials from various levels of the Non-Formal Primary and Middle School Education Supervision Committees.

First, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein delivered a speech. He stated that non-formal education is a system designed to fulfill the needs of individuals who face difficulties in accessing formal schooling due to various reasons. It is flexibly arranged and delivered with the help of officials and volunteers, aiming to achieve its objectives within a specified period. He expressed sincere gratitude to the organizations supporting the non-formal primary and middle school education programs and to the dedicated education volunteers and donors who enthusiastically contributed.

Following this, Deputy Minister for Education U Nay Myo Hlaing delivered an opening address and presented books and stationery, which were received by Daw Sanda Htwe, Director of the Department of Non-Formal and Lifelong Education. Subsequently, U Thant Zin Tun, Director-General of the Department of Non-Formal and Lifelong Education, presented an overview of the progress of the non-formal primary and middle school education initiatives.

Next, Yangon Region Government Social Affairs Minister U Htay Aung presented appointment letters to district administrators, designating them as Chairs of the District Supervision Committees. Donors then presented their contributions, which were accepted by officials, who in turn presented certificates of appreciation.

After that, the course teachers and students performed a song titled "Today for Children." The Chief Minister then presented honorary cash rewards to the performing group.

Finally, the Chief Minister and officials cordially greeted the students and toured the exhibition booths on display.
