Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin visited Magway General Hospital on June 18, to encourage patients receiving cataract surgery. The surgeries are part of a free health care program organized by the Magway Regional Government, Public Health Department, and Ananda Cetana Foundation.

This is the second round of the program, providing eye check-ups and cataract surgeries for 525 patients from rural areas of Myothit and Taung Twin Gyi townships. Surgeries are being done from June 17 to 25 at Magway General Hospital, Magway Teaching Hospital, and Minbu General Hospital.

During his visit, the Chief Minister gave words of support, donated glasses, and cash assistance to the patients. He also thanked and honored the doctors, nurses, health staff, and volunteers for their dedication. Earlier in March, 254 cataract patients successfully received surgeries in the first round of this program.
