Tour in Shan State: Hydropower project and earthquake recovery in Shan State

Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun, along with Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung and officials, visited the Upper Belu Creek Hydropower Project in Nyaung Shwe Township of Shan State (South) on Saturday. They reviewed construction progress, including the overflow-type concrete dam, 30.4 MW combined capacity powerhouses, and related irrigation structures.

The project is currently 45% complete and aims to supply electricity to the national grid. They then visited Inlay area to inspect completed and ongoing repairs to power lines and transformers damaged by the March 28 earthquake. Repair works for 11 kV and 400V power lines in Kyar Taw Village were completed, while the facilities in Kaylar and Ohn Pin villages are underway.

The Union Minister and party later visited Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, donated offerings, and checked on restoration of damaged structures caused by the earthquake. Out of 321 villages affected in Inlay region, 319 villages have already had power restored. Efforts continue to bring electricity back to the remaining areas as quickly as possible.
