International Forum: Myanmar delegation tours in Kazan, Russia

Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe attended the International Forum of Ministers of Education in Kazan of Russian Federation.

During their stay in Kazan, the Union Minister met with Russian Education Minister Sergey Kravtsov and party and discussed matters for cooperation in education sector between the two countries. They later joined the press meeting for the forum which was held under the theme “Shaping the Future”. They also took a tour of the IT Park and observed the training rooms, equipped with digital technologies.

On June 11th. The Union Minister and party attended the forum, together with the participants from more than 30 countries. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov gave speeches via online. The representatives made presentation on academic matters and international cooperation.

In his speech, Union Minister Dr Nyunt Pe explained the Myanmar’s efforts for providing quality education to every citizen, ensuring all school-going-aged children to complete at least KG+9 education. He also stressed the importance of academic system, providing abilities to have critical thinking, innovation and adaptability, in combination with digital technologies. He highlighted the crucial role of life-long learning in order to catch up with the change trend of technology with efficient competency.

In addition, it is also important to nurture to take value on the concept of global citizenship, team work spirit and sympathy with mutual respect and understanding in the world of diverse culture. He called for collaborative efforts to narrow down the education gap between rural and urban areas as well as between the developed and developing countries.

After the meeting, the Union Minister held an informal meeting with the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Buryatia, and discussed for cooperation in education matter. They also met with the officials from Altai State Pedagogical University and signed the Road Map on implementing the tasks in cooperation with the universities of foreign languages in Myanmar. At night, the delegation attended a dinner reception, hosted by the Russian Education Minister.

On the 12th, the Union Minister joined the informal breakfast meeting together with the participant ministers. In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Adymnar Secondary School, and observed the classrooms, library, sports halls and assembly halls as well as the digital learning system.
