







A work coordination meeting for doubling the production of export-oriented fish and shrimp farming, export promoting of high-quality products and utilizing modern technologies to ensure the safety of product was held at the Myanmar Fisheries Federation in Yangon Region on June 12.
Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi attended the meeting, and stated that to prevent the extinction of aquatic species, and to ensure sufficient domestic consumption as well as enable exports to international markets, it is necessary to widely engage in fish and shrimp farming using modern technologies.
Furthermore, he urged all to secure strong international markets for aquatic products, applying the internationally accepted standards, and contributing to the increased foreign income. Officials reported on the ongoing efforts to promote comprehensive development in the fisheries sector, along with plans for future implementation.
The Deputy Minister coordinated the needs. Following the meeting, the Deputy Minister visited Fresh & Green Co., Ltd., which is operating on leased land, owned by the Ministry. There, he inspect the construction of a 5,000-Metric Ton capacity cold storage facility, a 90-Metric Ton capacity purified ice production plant, and 2,000-ton storage facilities for agricultural produce, including vegetables, milk, meat, fish, and other aquatic products.
