








On 7th June, Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than visited No.2 Steel Mill (Pangpet) in Taunggyi and met with the officials and staff.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister elaborated on producing quality steel and iron products which can be used in constructing earthquake-proof buildings.
In order to complete the No.2 Steel Mill (Pangpet) project swiftly and to start the operation in timely manner, the maintenance and restoration processes are being carried out systematically with the support of the experts from abroad. The staff are encouraged to learn the requisite technologies from the experts to accelerate the production process.
The Union Minister emphasized on raw steel production for the rapid operation of steel and iron mills. He also provided cash assistance for the staff. In the afternoon, the Union Minister oversaw the maintenance and repairing process of the equipment installed at Air Separation Plant and coordinated necessities.
On 8th June, the Union Minister visited Shan Yoma Cement Plant, and inspected the production process, control room and quality testing measures.
On arrival at Apache Cement Plant in Thazi Township, the Union Minister stressed on uninterrupted operation of the plant, encouraging to make collaborative measures with the entrepreneurs to secure quality products.
The Union Minister also inspected the restoration of damaged equipment and power generation. Apache Cement Plant has a daily usage of 30 MW electricity in order to operate at full capacity. The plant utilizes necessary power supply from its own waste heat power plant, solar farm and power plant and distribute the surplus power to the National Grid.
