






The Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, currently in Taunggyi, Shan State, attended the opening ceremony of the 2025–2026 academic year Sports and Education Integration Training Program held at the Institute of Sports and Physical Science (Taunggyi).
At the beginning of the ceremony, the trainees who will be participating in the program according to their respective sports in the 2025–2026 academic year were respectfully introduced. In his opening speech, the Union Minister stated that Grade-12 graduates from the institutes of sports and physical science will be eligible to directly attend the B.Sc. (Sport) programs specialized sports science degrees offered at Dagon University, Yadanabon University, and Naypyitaw State Academy.
He emphasized that the goal is not only to produce nationally recognized athletes for the country but also to ensure year-over-year academic improvement. Therefore, he urged school principals, staff, coaches, teachers, and trainees to work collaboratively in a balanced and harmonious manner.
Following that, the Chief Minister of Shan State, U Aung Aung, delivered a speech. Later, the Union Minister met with school principals and staff at the multipurpose hall and gave a speech. He then inspected various facilities including the 400-meter track and football field, judo and taekwondo sports halls, dormitories, classrooms, dining hall, and the school clinic, providing necessary guidance.
Subsequently, the Union Minister attended the opening ceremony of the 2025 Regions and States Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Tournament held at the Shan State Sports ground. He delivered a speech and officially inaugurated the tournament.
The Union Minister, Chief Minister, and state ministers warmly greeted the participating athletes and presented cash awards to the ethnic traditional dance troupe and the Drum and Bugle Corps. They also watched the matches between the Nay Pyi Taw Council Men’s Volleyball Team and the Kayah State Men’s Volleyball Team, in which the Nay Pyi Taw team won by two matches to one out of three.
