

A handover ceremony for the prefabricated school buildings donated by donor countries through the AHA Centre for Mandalay earthquake-affected areas, was held at the meeting hall of the Department of Disaster Management under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, on May 28.
Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, Deputy Ministers, senior officials, AHA Centre Executive Director Mr. Lee Yam Ming, and representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat and the AHA Centre attended the ceremony.
Due to the earthquake that occurred in March 2025, essential infrastructures including school buildings, roads, and bridges were damaged. Efforts are currently underway to reopen schools in the first week of June for the 2025–2026 academic year. In order to ensure children can learn in a safe and secure environment, 20 prefabricated school buildings donated by donor countries, coordinated by the AHA Centre, will be constructed, five each in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, and Shan State.
During the ceremony, the Union Minister delivered a speech. AHA Centre Executive Director Mr. Lee Yam Ming officially handed over the prefabricated school buildings to Deputy Minister for Education Dr. Zaw Myint and Nay Pyi Taw Council Member U Myint Soe.
Following the handover, Union Minister presented a certificate of honor.
