








On 23rd May, the Central Committee on Ensuring Smooth Flow of Trade and Goods held its work coordination meeting in Nay Pyi Taw with the attendance of Chairman of the committee, member of the State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Trnsport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the strenuous efforts of relevant departments in ensuring uninterrupted trade flow despite of numerous difficulties and challenges due to devastating Mandalay earthquake.
At present, tasks are underway to secure swift and seamless export/import process to meet and exceed trade targets. Likewise, border trade method has started to implement in June 2024 on Yangon-Kawthaung-Ranong and Ranong-Kawthaung-Yangon trade routes.
According to trade statistics, there was a trade surplus of over US$2.3 billion in 2024-2025 fiscal year. In order to achieve a trade surplus in the 2025-2026 fiscal year as well, export sector need to be accelerated. Moreover, tasks are carried out for smoth distribution of edible oil and fuel and expediting CMP export process.
After making sector-wise discussions on smooth flow of trade and goods, the meeting was concluded with the closing remarks of the committee chairman.
