New School Building: Opening ceremony of new school building in Dawei

The Opening and Handover Ceremony of the new three-storey RCC school building for the 2025–2026 academic year, located within the compound of Basic Education High School No. 2 in Dawei, Tanintharyi Region, was held on Friday.

Following the opening ceremony, the Chief Minister U Myat Ko made a speech, urging the principal, teachers and parents to provide high quality academic proficiency, who have mutual respect among others. He also highlighted to nurture positive values and habits that empower individuals to take responsibilities for the needs of people, region and the nation as well. Basic Education High School No. 2 in Dawei was established as a primary school in 1945 and upgraded as a middle school in 1952, and a high school in 1957, and it has been in existence for over 80 years.

The newly opened three-storey building was named as a “Kyauk Sein” Hall, and the construction was undertaken by MTC Company, using funds from the Ministry of Education in the 2024–2025 fiscal year.

After the ceremony, the Chief Minister and party inspected students’ admission status of KG to grade-12 for 2025- 2026 academic year.
