Field inspection tour: Kachin State CM made field inspection tour in Putao

In the northernmost region of Myanmar, in Putao District of Kachin State, efforts are being intensified to enhance agricultural and production activities to support the food security initiative. On May 14, Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan, along with officials, conducted a field inspection tour in Machanbaw Township to oversee the agricultural development progress.

The Chief Minister and officials inspected three completed 40-foot-deep wells in Htawadam Village, Putao Township, aimed at ensuring access to drinking water. They also visited the historic Kaunghmulon Pagoda in Machanbaw Township, where they made donations for all-round renovation efforts.

Other projects visited included the construction of stairways at the Christian Church compound in Khan Kyo Village, the expansion of a box culvert, and the completion status of a sandstone road project. They also paid respects to the historic Shwe-U-Daung Min Pagoda and attended a traditional Lisu ethnic cultural dance performance. They visited agricultural projects in Namkham Village and provided guidance on necessary improvements.

Subsequently, the Chief Minister traveled to farms growing monsoon and winter crops in Zee Ohn Village, Putao Township. They inspected the old suspension bridge over Mula Creek on the production road, exploring reconstruction possibilities. They coordinated with local officials and departmental representatives to address the issue.

A community meeting followed at the village hall, where the Chief Minister met with local farmers and residents and delivered a speech. During this visit, over 11.3 million was provided for fencing 407 acres of farmland growing oil crops, and 10 million kyats was allocated for the reconstruction of the Mula Creek suspension bridge. Additionally, bags of mustard seeds and vegetable seeds were distributed.

Finally, the Chief Minister and officials returned to Putao and visited a maternity clinic operated by Mother and Child Welfare Association in Dote Htan Ward. Together with the State Women’s Affairs Patron, they inspected the clinic’s infrastructure and operations to ensure smooth service delivery and committed to providing necessary upgrades and support.
