Due to the Mandalay earthquake in Myanmar, the People’s Republic of China donated 95 operation rooms and 1,804 modular (prefabricated) houses for reconstruction efforts. The MTT Sapangar ship, carrying the operation rooms, arrived at Thilawa (MITT) Port on May 12 at 6:30 PM, while the SOUTHERN VENTURE ship, carrying the modular houses, arrived on May 13 at 6:38 PM.

The handover ceremony for these donated items took place in the morning on May 14, attended by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Region Government Ministers, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, Myanmar Railways, and the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement. The Economic Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Ouyang Daobing, officially handed over the supplies at Thilawa Port, marking the 14th batch of donations.

The 95 operation rooms will be distributed to the earthquake-affected areas by the Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, the modular houses are being unloaded from the SOUTHERN VENTURE ship onto cargo trucks using cranes. Additionally, arrangements are being made to transport the modular houses to earthquake-affected areas via Myanmar Railways, with cranes transferring them from cargo trucks onto railway wagons.

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and officials inspected the unloading and transportation process, ensuring that necessary coordination and adjustments were made for efficient delivery.
