In the northern part of Myanmar, within Putao District of Kachin State, efforts are underway to ensure regional food security through the implementation of agriculture and livestock development projects funded by the Country’s Economic Promotion Fund. To facilitate smooth operations and expansion of production, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khat Htein Nan, along with Minister for Natural Resources U Taint Saung and relevant departmental officials, conducted field inspections in Putao on May 11 and 12.

On the morning of May 12, the Chief Minister and officials attended the 2025 monsoon season tree-planting ceremony held within the compound of the Industrial Institute in Dote Htan Ward, Putao, where they participated in planting trees.

Following that, they inspected local poultry and pig farming operations in the same ward, the planned site for a Kyauk-Lone diversion weir in Hophine Village of Lay Yin Kwin Ward and the proposed bridge construction site across a stream in the Hophine Village area; farming progress in the Pamatee Village Tract; agriculture and livestock farms in Namshalzut Village; and the Putao Water Purification Plant located in Panhlain Ward. They provided guidance and coordinated with relevant departments to address necessary requirements.

Later, they visited the Hokho Philanthropic Monastery, paid respects to the presiding Sayadaw, and discussed religious matters. They also donated 1 million kyats and other offerings. Members of the State Mother and Child Welfare Association provided meals for students attending basic education classes at the monastery and financial support for the teachers.

After that, they inspected the Yay-Khe-Taung Water Purification Plant in the area; the Department of Fisheries’ breeding operations and distribution of fish fry to local farmers; and observed the stages of production at the “Shwe Taung” rice noodle factory.

Finally, in Kaungkathaung Ward, they visited the “Hnin Pwint Taung Zalap” food processing business, which produces ready-to-eat mixed fruit preserves and juices using local produce. They provided encouragement and coordinated with responsible departments to ensure technical support and meet operational needs.
