Kasone Full Moon Day: Water Pouring Ceremony in Dawei

On Kasone Full Moon Day (Buddha Day), ceremonies of pouring water on Bayan Tree have been celebrated acrossed the country.

In Tanintharyi Region, the ceremony was organized by the regional government at Lawkamarazain Pagoda in Dawei. Chief Minister U Myat Ko participated in the event, and offered flowers, water and oil lamp to the Buddha image in the compound of pagoda, while also made cash donation. This was followed by the water pouring ceremony at Maha Bodhi Tree.

After performing the religious rituals, the Chief Minister, officials and locals as well as the Wut Associations poured water on the Maha Bodhi tree. The ceremony also includes the charity feast donation by departments and well-wishers. It’s learnt that this year marks the 83rd celebration of Water Pouring Ceremony, which has been held annually at Lawkamarazain Pagoda in Dawei.
