Knowledge Sharing: Discussion on the restoration and reconstruction

A Knowledge Sharing Discussion on the restoration and reconstruction of buildings damaged by the recent earthquake was held at the Ministry of Construction in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant noted that engineering professionals would be sharing their experiences, processes, and technical methods for repair and restoration. He stressed that instead of demolishing all red-coded buildings, engineers would identify structures that can be safely restored using advanced techniques.

The discussion covered three key topics related to the earthquake. Structural engineers, having conducted on-site inspections and practical strengthening work, discussed assessment methods for severely damaged buildings and appropriate repair systems. The goal of the session was to identify the most effective repair approaches and to understand potential challenges, in order to apply practical restoration techniques on the ground.
