Inspection of housing arrangements: MoEP UM inspected temporary housing arrangements

Union Minister for Electric Power, U Nyan Tun, along with relevant officials, inspected the status of temporary housing arrangements, in the afternoon on May 5, for ministry staff and their families affected by the recent earthquake, ensuring they will be able to live safely and comfortably with access to electricity and water.

The Union Minister and officials first visited available land within the Nay Pyi Taw Central Training School compound in Ottarathiri Township, where preparations are underway to build ten two-storey modular (prefabricated) houses measuring 20 feet by 120 feet each. Heavy machinery is being used to expedite the construction, aimed at providing safe, fully equipped living spaces for the displaced staff and their families.

Additionally, on the afternoon of May 4, the Union Minister and officials inspected ongoing repairs and refurbishment efforts inside designated dormitories (Nos. 11, 12, 13, and 14) at Thazin (4) female dormitories in Zabuthiri Township, which are being prepared to accommodate the relocated staff.

In Zeyathiri Township, the Union Minister also visited Paunglaung Hydropower Station compound and the No. (1) Construction Yard Community Hall, where some affected staff and their families have been temporarily relocated. He inspected the living and dining conditions and urged responsible personnel to ensure the soon-to-be-completed buildings are properly allocated to those in need.

He closely examined the layout and refurbishment progress of each building, including the division of rooms and availability of essential utilities such as water, electricity, and lighting, and emphasized that renovation work should be completed swiftly, families should be relocated under proper roofing before the rainy season begins, all housing should be systematically arranged.

The minister instructed relevant officials to oversee and carry out these tasks accordingly.
