Damage Assessment: MORAC Union Minister makes inspection

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin accompanied by concerned officials made inspection at the earthquake damaged ancient heritage and religious buildings situated in Paleik and Mekkhaya ancient cities in Kyaukse District of Mandalay Region on 3rd May.

In Paleik, the Union Minister inspected the earthquake affected ancient buildings within Mway Pagoda precinct and damaged ancient pagodas within Banmaw Monastery compound and instructed on systematic debris clearing process and restoration process preserving ancient structures and donated cash assistance.

Then, the Union Minister oversaw the preservation process of Kyauk Thitar Pagoda situated on Shwe Tha Hlyaung Hill. He instructed for the long-term resilience of the pagoda to prevent potential loss and damage on households located at the foot of the hill and instructed on safety and security measures.

Next, the Union Minister inspected the damaged areas within Se Taw Nan Shwe Mode Daw pagoda precinct and donated cash assistance for renovation of damages. They later proceeded to Tamote Shwe Gu Gyi pagoda in Kyaukse Township, inspected the damaged areas of the pagoda and instructed on systematic restoration process of the pagoda keeping invaluable ancient arts and structures.

In Mekkhaya ancient city, the Union Minister inspected the earthquake affected Shwe Si Gon Pagoda, instructed on rapid restoration of the damaged areas before rainy season. He also emphasized to conduct renovation process preserving the invaluable mural arts of the pagoda and donated cash assistance.
