









On 3rd May in Moe Gaung Township of Namti, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan attended a ceremony to provide necessary supplies for the displaced persons who fled from their residential areas due to terrorist activities.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister delivered words of comfort and encouragement for the displaced persons assuring to provide requisite accommodation and necessary assistance for the convenience of the displaced person and provided basic foodstuff.
Then, the Chief Minister coordinated necessities with the concerned officials in constructing temporary shelters and buildings for accommodation of the displaced persons and installation of better drainage system within Myo Thaya Ward and Sugar Mill Compound.
At the Kachin Baptist Church in Wa Aung Ward , the Chief Minister cordially met with the displaced persons temporarily sheltered at the church, expressed words of encouragement and assured to provide temporary housings before rainy season.
Subsequently, the Cheif Minister heard reports on healthcare, electricity access and education matters and coordinated requirements. He also inspected the construction of temporary housings and provided 5 million cash assistance.
On 2nd May, the Chief Minister attended a work coordination meeting of State Committee on the Resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons and the Closure of Temporary Shelters.
At the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the National Disaster Management Committee provided 20,000 kyats cash assistance to each of 70,000 displaced persons for January and arrangements are underway to provide cash assistance for February and March.
He also called for the concerted efforts of the relevant individuals to fulfill the education and healthcare needs of the displaced persons as well as their socio-economic development. Then, discussions were made on arranging temporary shelters for displaced persons, rehabilitation process and closure of temporary shelters and provision of job opportunities.
