






Union Minister for Health Professor Dr Thet Khaing Win visited the Prosthetic and Orthotic Workshop of the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Yangon on Friday.
During the visit, the Union Minister comforted the patients and gave instructions for effective work flow of the workshop. In the meeting room, officials reported on the production of artificial arms and legs, treatment process and operation of the Prosthetic and Orthotic Workshop as well as the cooperation with International Committee of the Red Cross and Myanmar Red Cross Society.
The Union Minister highlighted the importance of rehabilitation works in public health sector, pledging to upgrade the Prosthetic and Orthotic Workshop for increased production of the artificial limbs. He also emphasized to nurture more prosthetists along with the career development opportunities.
The Union Minister also outlined the plan to provide artificial limbs to those who lost body parts during the severe Mandalay earthquake on March 28, through collaborative efforts among the Defence Services Medical Corps, technical experts and prosthetists. The Union Minister and party later inspected the storage condition of medicines at the Central Cold Room.
