Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development, U Hla Moe, along with Director Generals and relevant officials, inspected the temporary shelter conditions and construction status of temporary basha buildings where staff affected by the March 28 Mandalay earthquake have been relocated.

Initially, the Union Minister and officials inspected the construction status of the temporary barrack styled buildings within the premises of the Department of Rural Development. They also observed the living conditions of staff from the Department of Rural Road Development who had been relocated to temporary basha buildings within the compound of the Department in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the inspection, the Union Minister emphasized the need for the swift completion of toilet facilities, water, and electricity systems. He also stressed the importance of ensuring proper water drainage during the rainy season within the temporary shelters.

Furthermore, the Union Minister inspected the construction status of temporary basha buildings on land owned by the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, where departments such as the Department of Cooperatives and the Department of Small-scale Industries are building shelters for earthquake-affected staff and their families.

They also inspected the road construction connecting the shelters to the office, and the drilling of tube wells to ensure sufficient drinking water supply for relocated staff. Relevant officials provided briefings on the progress of these operations.

In response, the Union Minister instructed officials to ensure good water flow during the rainy season within the shelters, timely access to electricity, quick completion of road construction connecting the shelters to the office before the onset of the rainy season, and to finish all relocation efforts by May 15.
