Application for Party Registration: Zomi National Party submitted its application

Under Section 3 of the Political Parties Registration Law, the Zomi National Party, seeking to establish a new political party, formally submitted its application for party registration to the Union Election Commission (UEC) on April 30 in order to participate in the upcoming multi-party democratic general election.

As of April 30, 24 parties have applied under Section 3 of the Political Parties Registration Law for new party formation, 50 parties have applied under Section 25 for continued recognition and re-registration. Total registered parties now stand at 74. The UEC is currently reviewing the Zomi National Party’s application, and further updates will follow pending approval.
