






In the afternoon of April 29, Union Minister for Health, Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win, accompanied by Director-Generals and responsible officials, visited temporary vaccination centers at Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw, including Sipin Guesthouse (1), Sipin Guesthouse (2), Zabuthiri Township 50-bed Hospital, and Ottarathiri Township 50-bed Hospital.
These locations are conducting the first round of administration of the oral cholera vaccine (Ora Vacs) from April 28 to May 2, targeting civil servants from union-level organizations and ministries based in Nay Pyi Taw.The Union Minister gave encouragement and coordinated necessary arrangements with officials at the Sipin Guesthouse (1) and (2) sites.
The Ora Vacs are also planned to be administered to people affected by the recent major earthquake in disaster-hit regions of Mandalay Region and Sagaing Region.Although the oral vaccine helps prevent acute diarrhea and cholera, the Ministry of Health emphasizes that personal hygiene remains critical. This includes using clean drinking water, consuming fresh and hygienic food, using sanitary toilets, and maintaining proper hand hygiene.
Union Minister for Health Prof. Dr. Thet Khaing Win received Mr. Thushara Fernando, WHO resident representative to Myanmar, at the Ministry of Health’s meeting hall in Nay Pyi Taw on April 29. During the meeting, they discussed ongoing emergency medical care for earthquake-affected populations and patients, dedicated efforts by health workers who maintain uninterrupted services although many of whom were also impacted, technical and equipment assistance for producing and fitting artificial limbs for amputees in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, and Sagaing, joint initiatives to provide psychosocial support in disaster-hit areas, monitoring and containment of post-earthquake infectious disease risks, plans to restore and improve health services beyond pre-disaster levels.
On April 28, 2025, the Union Minister acknowledged donations for health workers and patients including 20 million Kyats from INCHEON Dental Association, 5 million Kyats from Grand Medi Core Co., Ltd and 10 million Kyats from Kyaymon Hospital (Nay Pyi Taw). The Union Minister presented certificates of honor and expressed gratitude. The event was attended by the Union Minister, Deputy Ministers, directors-general, officials, and donors.
