75th Anniversary : Diamond Jubilee Celeration of Defence Indistries

75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee of Defence Indistries took place at the local military headquarters in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area on Saturday with the attendance of Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. 

After the ceremonial ribbon cutting to formally open the event, the Senior General unveiled the signboard of the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee of Defence Indistries Day. Following this, the Senior General made a speech, saying that the history of defence industries dated back in the late Konebaung Era, with an efforts of Crown Prince Kanaung for establishment of defence industries to counter the intrusion of British.

After gaining Independence in 1948, the country faced internal insurgencies and the Tatmadaw safeguarded the independence and souvereignty of the state in cooperation with the people. At that time, the Tatmadaw Leaders strived for manufacturing the defence equipment locally, and formed the Defence Industries Day on 26th April 1950.

With the motto of “Power to the Forces”, the Directorate of Defence Industries have produced powerful defence equipment. He urged all to continue striving to produce more powerful weapons and equipment. He also praised the significant performance of the Defence Industries in participating in building the World Largest Maravijaya Marble Buddha Image. 

He called for maintain the fine traditions of the Defence Industries, serving the interest of the nation and its people. This was followed by explanation on the brief history of the Directorate of Defence Industries, and presenting of a commemorative gift to the Senior General. 

The attendees later took a tour of the displayed booths, commemorating the 75th anniversary Diamond Jubilee Defence Industries Day.
