Hotels and tourism sector: MoHT UM met with the officials from MTF

The Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Kyaw Soe Win visited the Yangon Region Office of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, located at the corner of Strand Road and Bo Aung Kyaw Street in Botahtaung Township on Monday, to meet with the staff members. The visit aimed to promote the systematic development and progress of hotels and tourism businesses within the Yangon Region.

During the meeting, the Union Minister emphasized that the tourism sector is a key component of the major sectors being developed to advance the country’s economy. He urged the public service personnel to prioritize their efforts accordingly and to carry out their duties in accordance with the ministry’s orders, directives, rules, and regulations.He also instructed them to strive to become diligent public servants capable of serving the interests of both the ministry and the country.

Subsequently, the Director of the Yangon Region Office of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism presented a briefing on the current status of efforts to develop and enhance hotels and tourism businesses within the region.

The Union Minister provided additional guidance and instructions as needed. Following this, the Union Minister visited the Central Tourism Development (CTD) Center in Yangon, where he inspected classrooms, the availability of teaching materials, the status of vocational training programs, and preparations for the upcoming launch of a Chinese cuisine cooking course. He conducted a thorough review of these activities.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister met with Chairmen, vice-Chairmen, central executive committee members, and other responsible individuals from the Myanmar Tourism Federation and its affiliated associations at the Inya Lake Hotel.

During the meeting, the Union Minister explained that the purpose of the discussion was to strengthen government-private sector collaboration to advance the development of hotel and tourism industries. He noted that while the ministry sets policies to promote tourism growth, the private sector plays the primary role in implementation. He assured attendees that the ministry would provide necessary support and assistance in line with established procedures to ensure the success and progress of these efforts.

After that, the Chairman of the Myanmar Tourism Federation, along with chairs and representatives from affiliated associations, presented updates on their respective activities. The Union Minister responded by offering additional input and coordinating efforts to address any outstanding needs, it’s learnt.
